The Indoor Lab chose lidar instead of other sensor technologies because lidar enables fully anonymized ,real-time 3D crowd data collection that is available 24/7. A network of Cepton’s Vista®-P series lidar sensors were deployed in place of video cameras to enable immediate object classification, tracking speed and position information, and configurable perception zones. The Indoor Lab’s lidar-based crowd analytics solution offers rich features, including pathing vapor trails, capacity and crowd density monitoring, cleaning staff tracking, and social distance breach point detection to create the first-of-its-kind safe space.
