Job Responsibilities

Establish production schedules based on demand and resources/materials availability

Issue, monitor and complete production work orders using Netsuite

Maintain accurate Netsuite data to support manufacturing activities

Qualifications

5+ years’ experience in a technical field

Hands on experience in Netsuite applications

Experience managing teams in a production environment

6Sigma Green Belt or 6 Sigma Black Belt is a plus.

Able to understand directions from engineering, and analyze and test electronic hardware using electrical schematics and layout.

Assemble and test prototype PCBA and troubleshoot down to component level with soldering station, oscilloscope, variable power supplies, DVM, Waveform & signal generator, microscope, etc.

Rework failure devices (including SMT, through-hole, BGA, ICs) on PCBA to recover functionality and performance with soldering station, hot air equipment, microscope, etc.

Build cabling and wiring as part of system integration

CEPTON is looking for a qualified Sr. Functional Safety System Engineer to drive safety engineering and development activities for our Lidar products targeted towards ADAS and AV markets. Our ideal candidate is someone with strong engineering (HW & SW), system background, knowledge, and experience. Potential candidates should be able to independently drive end-to-end safety design & engineering activities working closely with external consultants, OEM, and Tier-1 partners for our next generation Lidar product.

Job Responsibilities

Participate in developing LiDAR system and subsystem requirements and specs to meet safety requirements defined by OEM

Participate in developing architecture and system/subsystem error budget and tradeoff analysis in order to achieve the best balance between system performance and safety capability

Create verification plan and drive system & subsystem verification on safety functionality and marginality

Collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders to develop and implement a safety strategy, including both standard tools (e.g., hazard analysis, DFMEA, FMEDA, qualitative and quantitative fault tree analysis, ISO 26262 guidelines) and design techniques appropriate for our application

Collaborate closely with design engineers and Tier-1 suppliers to build the overall safety case for the LiDAR sensor per automotive OEM requirements

Lead and support internal and external ISO 26262 efforts, understanding technical details well enough to generate documents and work products required by the ISO 26262 standard

Perform detailed systems reliability analyses (FIT rates, probabilistic failure analysis, fault tolerance analysis, etc.)

Write detailed safety requirements, including hardware and software requirements

Actively participate in product design review, quality, and reliability conversations to ensure that functional safety is a critical consideration in all decisions

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in engineering w/ 5+ years of experience in related field

Knowledge about circuitry theory with good experience on circuit failure mode and analysis

Knowledge about SW development process & quality control

Knowledge with standard safety concepts, including but not limited to DFMEA, FMEDA, fault tree analysis, etc

Knowledge of ISO 26262 is a big plus but not necessary

Familiarity with automotive mechanical, electrical and SW system architectures (e.g., ADAS systems) is a big plus but not necessary

Basic knowledge of the systems engineering process, software & hardware design process

Proven track record of translating and interpreting requirements from design to production

Knowledge and execution of review and release of functional safety content is preferred

Proactively interact with optical, mechanical, electrical, and firmware group stakeholders to understand the design architecture and expected performance capability

Perform systematic function characterization for opto-electronic components, sub-assemblies, and Lidar systems.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or other Engineering fields with 3 years of related industry experience working in a product development environment.
Working knowledge of opto-electronic and sensor products in a multi-disciplinary setting that includes Electrical circuits, ASICs, Optical and mechanical components, and uses embedded systems (FW/FPGA) as the brain to bring everything together in making a functional module.
Ability to understand system level Lidar/sensor performance.
In-depth hands-on experience performing bench level testing and characterization of optical and electronic devices across corner cases.
Strong problem-solving, diagnostic, and analytical skills.

Design board-level solutions consisting of high speed (GHz) and low-noise front end analog circuitry of transmit, receiver, transceiver and transimpedance amplifier & ADC w/ high speed LVDS, SPI and high-precision clocking & PLL, etc
Responsible for the design, starting with concept and architecture followed by schematic design and layout with OrCAD and Allegro, and able to run circuitry simulation w/ PSPICE or other simulation tools
Manage and follow through the PCB fabrication and assembly process (including the component kitting) with the assembly house
Responsible for electronics prototype bring-up, test, debug (e.g.: noise, signal integrity, etc) and integration.
Must be proficient in using all necessary Test & Measurement tools (e.g.: o-scope, function generator, spectrum analyzer, etc) and techniques at or above 1 GHz.
Experience with analog front end ASIC development cycle is big plus but not necessary
