Cepton has partnered with ALP.Lab to deploy the Helius® Smart Lidar System at traffic intersections in Graz, Austria, to monitor traffic patterns and collect data for vehicle safety analysis and self-driving environment modeling. ALP.Lab provides services for the safe testing of automated driving technologies. This partnership aims to test the performance of smart lidar systems in real-life driving conditions across different road networks. With the data analytics enabled by Helius, ALP.Lab can provide feedback to the municipality to help improve road user safety as well as traffic efficiency. In addition, ALP.Lab uses the data to further their developments in building testing environments that reflect real-life traffic situations for autonomous driving and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Helius uses the versatile Vista®-P lidar sensors powered by Cepton’s patented Micro Motion Technology (MMT®), to offer mirrorless, frictionless, rotation-free 3D imaging. The Helius perception software enables 24/7, 3D vehicle detection, classification, and tracking with speed information to help identify accidents, near-misses, and other risks in real-time.
